I worked at VCV for just under a month and I had such a fantastic time! It was the highlight of my whole trip. Thankyou so much to Ms Hay, Hung and Trang for making me feel so welcome and always making me laugh, the positivity from everyone involved at VCV is amazing.

If you want to experience genuine Vietnamese culture and life in Hanoi, volunteer here! There are day trips with students every week and loads of opportunities to socialise with the older students outside of class (I even went on a trip outside of Hanoi with some of them), which taught me so much about the differences between our cultures.

The teaching can seem daunting at first, but everyone's in the same boat and nearly everyone has never taught before. I asked another volunteer to help me plan my first lesson and after that it was really easy. Some lessons are sometimes taught with another volunteer which is really fun and a great way to ease you in at the beginning. I absolutely loved teaching as you can take the lessons in any direction you like and some of the students and the things the kids come out with are hilarious. The range of teaching oppertunties is fantastic, in one day you can go from teaching 20 + year olds in the apartment to then teaching a bunch of crazy 7 year olds in the school.

The apartment provided by Miss Hay for all the volunteers is amazing and the food cooked for lunch and dinner is well tasty. Everything you could need is provided for you, and living in the apartment with all the other volunteers was really great for socialising, I made some great friends who I will definitely stay in touch with.
